Father by Heather M.

At Winterfest, we remember the year, and strive to capture a spirit of togetherness through our words and art.

This year, I was lucky enough to meet Heather M. and see her wonderful art.  I think you will agree, her depiction of Father is as intense and realized, as it is powerful and beautiful.

Ever-fixed Mark is proud to host her Winterfest Submission.

We are also happy to share Heather’s story of meeting Roy at his first convention!

Oh, my! What an amazing portrait! Heather has truly captured Father! The image really expresses the shades of his personality too. Brava, Heather, and thank you for sharing your talents!

Heather, this is wonderful work! You’ve shown Father in all his intensity and, at the same time, in all his vulnerability. He’s such a complex character. I can tell he touches something deep in you – it comes through the dark of his eyes, the distance of his gaze. Thank you for sharing your art this Winterfest. I hope you’ll show us more!

    • Heather says:

Thank you so much, Carole! I did this portrait nearly 30 years ago and it was truly a labor of love. (p.s. I love your writing!)
